Ivor Awards

May 25, 2007

As people may have noticed if they saw this or this or this or this or [lots of other links] Norman was presented with an award at the Ivor Novello awards last night.

It was lots of fun to be there.

In summary: Amy Winehouse is REALLY small. In every dimension. We were on a table next to Elton John on one side, Quincy Jones on another. I said hello to the Scissor Sisters, Roy Wood (no, I don’t know why either) and a few other famous people I really can’t remember right now. I should point out that this whole thing involved starting on the champagne at 11:30am, and it went on from there really…

I don’t play with the showbiz world very often, but I have to say it was kind of fun….I was sat next to Mr Paul Heaton, and we had a right old laugh comparing stories about Norman. I mean, he’s one of the few people that’s known Norman longer than I have these days..

This BBC story talks about Currys announcing that they will no longer be stocking (blank) cassettes.

“It is estimated that there are 500 million tapes still in circulation” says the article.

Surely more than that, I seem to have about that many stored in boxes hidden around various places in my flat!

A Free bit of music.

For some reason I’ve decided to start doing this back to front, and not even with finished tracks. I am an odd boy sometimes. Hey ho.

Anyhoo, I was looking through my ‘to do’ pile, and remembered how much I like this not-quite-there-yet Go Go Underground track. So I thought I’d post it up here in case anyone else would like it to.

“Bring It Down” (unfinished) [160kbps mp3, 4mb]

It’s a bit of a mess in places, but I like it’s general character. One day, hopefully not too far away, I’ll get around to finishing it. It might not end up being so free then either, haha.
